Memory Card Installation
Before installing or removing the memory card, ensure the camera is powered off to prevent any damage to both the camera and the card. The microSD card slot is located on the bottom of the rotating lens. To access it, gently lift the camera lens upward. Insert the memory card as shown in the video, making sure it fits securely in the slot. The camera supports microSD cards up to 512 GB, providing ample storage for long recording durations.
To insert or eject the card, gently press until it clicks into place or pops out. With a 512 GB card, you can record up to two weeks of footage, depending on factors such as video quality, frame rate, and whether you’re using continuous or motion-triggered recording modes. Once the memory card is properly installed, power on the camera to enable automatic recording. Always ensure the memory card is seated correctly to avoid data loss or recording errors.
Power Up the Camera
To power up the camera, connect it to a power source using the provided DC power adapter. Once plugged in, the camera will begin its startup sequence. During this time, the pan-tilt (PT) lens will rotate, signaling that the camera is powering on. A red light will initially illuminate, indicating the camera is in the booting process. As the boot-up completes, the red and green lights will start flashing, indicating that the camera is ready for use.

Add the Camera
Now that the Tapo app is ready to use, you can easily add your camera by selecting the ‘Add Device’ option. Start by opening the app on your smartphone and look for the ‘Add Device’ button, typically found on the main screen or in the device management section.
Camera Reset
Before adding your camera, make sure it is in network connection mode. If the camera is not in this mode, you may need to reboot or reset it. To do this, locate the reset button on the camera and press it for about 5-10 seconds. Once the reset is successful, the camera will enter network connection mode, indicated by a blinking red and blue LED light.
Configure WiFi
When configuring the WiFi for your camera, it’s essential to keep it near your internet modem or router to establish a strong and stable connection during the setup process within the Tapo app. Once the WiFi is successfully configured, you can then move it to your desired location for monitoring.
Camera Adding
The camera’s LED blinking red and green indicates that it is ready to configure the WiFi network. To begin adding the camera, open the Tapo app and select the device type. Navigate to the ‘Tapo’ tab, then choose the ‘Indoor Camera’ option. From the list of available devices, select ‘Tapo C200’ to proceed with the setup process.
After selecting the ‘Tapo C200’ option, click the ‘Next’ button to confirm that the camera’s LED is flashing red and green. This confirmation is crucial for proceeding with the setup.
- During this process, the app will prompt you to grant access to certain features on your phone, including location, photos, and gallery. It’s important to allow these permissions, as they are essential for the app’s functionality.
- A pop-up screen will appear prompting you to “connect to device.” Select this temporary WiFi network to establish a connection between your phone and the camera.
- After successfully connecting your phone to the camera’s temporary WiFi network, the Tapo app will automatically redirect you to configure your home WiFi settings.
- In this step, you’ll need to select your home WiFi network from the list provided in the app. Enter the WiFi password to allow the camera to connect to your network.
- Once the camera successfully connects to your home WiFi network, the LED indicator will change to a stable green light, confirming that the camera is online and ready for use.
After connecting the camera, you’ll have the option to enter a preferred device name and select its location. This personalization helps you easily identify the camera within the app, especially if you have multiple devices installed. Once you’ve made these selections, click the ‘Next’ button to finalize the setup and continue using your Tapo C200 camera.
On the ‘Complete’ page, click the ‘Sounds Good’ option to proceed and view the live feed from your camera. If you plan to mount the camera on the ceiling, you can select the ‘Mount on the Wall’ option for installation guidance.
Your TP-Link Tapo C200 Camera is now fully set up, offering live streaming, playback, and PTZ controls. You can monitor your camera remotely from anywhere in the world using the Tapo app. Be sure to configure additional settings such as date, time, and recording preferences for optimal usage.
